The driveway entrance was really lacking its curb appeal and was the biggest eye sore so that was one of our early outside jobs to tackle. As you can imagine there were so many projects I would get a bit overwhelmed at which one to do first. Most of the outside jobs got put off till later except for this one. One of my greatest lessons I hope, I learned over this last year is to take 1 day at a time. It helps to look back at these pictures and realize how far we have come.
The Driveway Entrance in Different Seasons

We didn’t have a big budget for this project so we started by getting rid of the rotten wood. My mother was instrumental in most of our projects in helping to complete or give advice. I love being able to do these things together and I learn so much from her. To our surprise once we started pulling/digging out the weeds we found tons of large rocks just buried together. These became the border we used around the front.

Once we leveled out the ground and made our border, we dug 2 holes on each side to hold our fence posts. (Little man loves to help in our projects and most of the time is is actually a great help.) Vinyl fencing isn’t real cheap, but we were resourceful and only had to buy 2-4×6 ft sections. The previous owners had left all the pieces to a privacy fence that had fallen down on the property. While most would think to just throw it away, I knew it would come in handy, and after much cleaning and cutting down we were able to make them work. (The inside pieces of the privacy fence we used in a later project).

Once the fence was in place we worked on the light posts, we decided to keep what was there for now and just spruce it up. I love adding a little old with a little new! So we just leveled the barrels and posts, painted the posts and added new lights. Then added some flowers and voila the project was done! In my next post we move on to a little before and after of the inside.
