This hallway remodel was actually done a while after moving in, but to lead into the main house projects I decided to share this one. This was another big transformation, from carpet on the walls to buffalo print wallpaper. Everything but the ceiling was changed.
First step was ripping up the carpet and painting all the walls/doors white. I think every door in the house needed painted so I set them all up in the driveway and sprayed them all. Except for the occasional leaf or bug that kept dropping in, it went pretty well.
The Biggest Change to the Hallway Makeover
I searched quite a bit for a wallpaper that I loved and found this one on Amazon. I didn’t know until it came in that it had sparkles. It looks like it has clear glitter and I grew to love it. The only annoying thing is it was not pre-pasted, so I had to roll on the paste before putting it up. Not the end of the world, but it was messy and a little more time consuming. Not everyone is a wallpaper fan, but I think it has its place and I love to add pockets of it in to add some character. The wall that I added it to was also not the best due to the carpet that was removed. This was an easy solution but one of my favorites. It’s hard to catch the sparkle in pictures but can kinda see it in the picture below.
The Flooring
Next up was the floor, there wasn’t enough budget to do the whole studio floor but the hallway was kind an eyesore. There were a lot of uneven patches and a wood ramp going up into the main part of the house. The ramp had to be stabilized and the concrete was patched to make the vinyl floor sit better. Then I was able to lay the flooring and add some trim to finish it off. Man that makes such a difference. Trim also was added around the hallway closet doors.
The After to the Hallway Makeover
Last step was swapping out the light fixture, adding frames to the wall and a rug to the floor. This rug by the way is the softest rug I have ever felt and it is washable, found on Amazon. And since this is an extension of the studio the frames are a combination of family and client pictures. I was excited to get to use the multiple antique white frames I had been collecting.
Looks great! What a huge change!!!
