Sorry it has been a minute, I’ve been working on a huge project in the back yard. I am excited to share that with you when I get it done. For now I am jumping from inside to outside for this post to show the state of this overgrown flower bed. I wasn’t for sure what I was going to do with this space. But knew I needed too do something because it was an eyesore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this being off to the side of my studio entrance, I wanted it to look nice. I believe they may have used it as a garden at one point. So I replanted the Rhubarb that I found. First up was getting rid of all the green weeds that have overtaken it. My mom was a huge help and honestly had to do it a couple times before I got the chance to start the project. I wanted something simple but cute. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had a ton of rock around the pool area that I wanted to re-home. So this would be the perfect place to incorporate some rock. So I decided to make a path in the middle that I filled with some rock. I put down cardboard under the rock to help make a barrier to keep out weeds. For this year at least it really did great and only had a few weeds creep thru. My cute little helper loved this job and his dump truck helped deliver the stone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We did away with part of the front flower bed so I re-homed some of the plants to the sides of the rock path. This area became a favorite place for my son to play in the dirt with his trucks. I had been wanting a sandbox area, and my mom had came up with the awesome idea to make one to the side of this bed. I had kept the boards from our our last one at the old house, so was able to use those to make a triangle frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mulch was added onto plastic on the sides of the rock path. And sand was added to the sandbox. Now hoping he keeps the sand out of the mulch and rocks. I added my rustic fence and old bike to the back of the flower bed. If you know me I love old bikes and have 3 of them around the property. I needed a focal point at the back of the rock walkway. Luckily, I had hung onto the living room bi-fold doors from the inside of the house. My husband never understands why I don’t want to pitch all these things he sees as junk. But I see potently in almost everything. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making An Arbor with a Bench<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I connected them together and added old pallet wood to the tops to make an arbor. Cute wood brackets on the sides and then I added it to the flower bed. I used stacked bricks and a piece of old board cut to size to make a small little bench. Added more plants a few more accessories and we are about complete. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The White Fence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You will notice the white fence at the end of the bed. I got this vinyl fence at a garage sale for $10. It fit perfectly at the end of this bed to act as a barrier. It also made the perfect spot to be able to hang my sign. Here is another before and after from this angle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And here is the completed design to the overgrown flower bed. I love how it turned out and the plants thankfully took off and look gorgeous. That is except for something that is eating at my knock out rose bush. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
